Once the photographs have been developed, Michelle narrows the choices to those which will make the most effective portrait, with the final choice of expression resting with the client. Frequently, the portrait will be composed of a composite of several photographs. While Michelle listens carefully to the feelings and opinions of the client, she maintains control of the artistic presentation of the portrait. She absolutely guarantees the likeness of the subject, making any necessary adjustments at the end of the process. While the cost of framing is not included in the commission, Michelle is happy to assist in quality framing if so desired.

The artist works in two mediums of portraiture, oil and soft pastel. Oil paintings are executed on the finest Belgian linen which has been stretched over heavy-duty kiln dried stretcher bars. The finished product is extremely durable. The second option is soft pastel, a dry medium painted on acid free paper which has already been mounted. The painting must be displayed under glass, and it, too, will stand the test of time if framed properly.

Neither medium has limitations in terms of variety of colors used or the amount of detail that can be achieved. With either, Michelle works with vivid interpretations through her expressive strokes. She carefully evaluates each painting and determines the style that best suits the subject. Completion time is approximately six months to a year.
